Occupy D.C. campers in MacPherson Square near the Downtown district have succeeded in doing one thing:  destroying newly laid lawns and sod that were paid for with stimulus money.

Perhaps they see it as their way of stimulating the economy, because once they are finally gone, the grounds will no doubt need to be redone.  The project was a 419K project to refurbish the park.   These particular Occupyers are breaking Federal Law, because they are camping out on National Park Service Land.  They are being allowed to get away with it, in part because of buck-passing by the numerous law enforcement agencies in D.C.  In areas where tents have been removed, the ground has already or will be giving away to mud.
