It happens occasionally, but always seems unusual when police arrest one of their own.

KREM2-TV in Spokane reported Wednesday a two-year veteran of the Spokane Police Department was arrested Tuesday night on a charge of 1st. Degree Burglary - Domestic Violence.

Witnesses told the TV station Yen was having a verbal argument with a woman at a home in the South 11 block of Arthur Street in Spokane. Apparently the two had been dating.  The witnesses said Yen allegedly kicked in the front door of a home after being told by the woman to leave.

Officer John W. Yen became an officer with the Department in May 2013.  He was not on duty during the time of the incident, but was armed with his off-duty firearm. He is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and internal affairs investigation.
