The Washington State Department of Health issues monthly updates on reprimands and actions taken against medical professionals accused of wrongdoing.   Most are pretty routine, but this one caught our attention.

The Washington State Nursing Assistant Program,  an arm of the Department of Health,  has charged a King County nursing assistant with unprofessional conduct after it was learned the woman not only potentially falsified her credentials, but now is accused of falsifying information so she could work in the United States.

Janet Afua Azanor admitted to a Social Security investigator she used fraudulent documents to obtain entry into, and work as a nursing assistant near Seattle.    She reportedly used at least two other aliases to obtain work.

Officials say it also calls into question the medical credentials she listed to be eligible to work as a nursing assistant.   An investigation is being done to determine if the information she provided was also valid.    Some officials are concerned that if she falsified Social Security information to get into the country,  she might not also have any credentials that would allow her to fulfill the job as a nursing assistant.   It's especially worrisome due to the sometimes significant medical tasks these type of workers are asked to perform.
