The Gonzaga Bulldogs, looking to return to the championship game for the second year in a row, got all they could handle in their first round game against UNC-Greensboro in the West Region of the 2018 NCAA men's basketball tournament.

The Zags led at halftime by nine points but the prohibitive underdog Spartans, a 14 seed, took the lead late at 64-62 with 1:04 remaining in the game. Freshman Zach Norvell, Jr. buried a clutch three-pointer with 38 seconds remaining before the Bulldogs finally sealed a 68-64 win. Senior Forward Jonathan Williams paced the scoring with 19.

Mark Few's club shot a paltry 42% from the field including just 21% from behind the three-point stripe and a miserable 54% from the free throw line.

Gonzaga advances to the second round of 32 teams and will face the winner of #5 Ohio State and #12 South Dakota State.
