The White House in response to blistering criticism Obama has been taking over his back-channel anti-gun moves, released a picture of the president skeet shooting. The photo, taken last August, shows Obama shooting a shotgun left handed.

NRA critics quickly pointed out the president's stance and posture with the gun were awkward and said the photo was contrived. The photo was also released because of a recent remark in an interview where Obama claimed he went skeet-shooting at Camp David "all the time."

The remark touched off a storm of criticism with gun supporters blasting the president for being insincere and trying to pander to gun owners.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney added fuel to the conspiracy fire when asked about the new Obama shooting photo and why it was released. He said pictures of Obama shooting may exist, but he didn't know of any. When asked why the pictures were not released earlier to perhaps head-off criticism that Obama was anti-gun, Carney said the president goes to Camp David to spend time with family and friends and relax and not produce photographs!

That is odd, because according to Newsmax, virtually everywhere Obama goes in public, even at Camp David, he is accompanied by a White House photographer. Newsmax added this as well:

"(Jay) Carney declined to comment on the decision to release the photo, which appeared to be part of a strategy to portray Obama as sympathetic to gun owners and opponents of his gun-control measures who argue the proposals would infringe on an individual's Second Amendment right to bear arms."

As for a final reaction to the photo from the NRA from Newsmax:

"One picture does not erase a lifetime of supporting every gun ban and every gun-control scheme imaginable," said Andrew Arulanandam, the organization's spokesman.

It didn't help that a few days ago, the New Republic magazine tweeted what turned out to be a bogus, but hilarious, photo of Obama allegedly shooting a weapon. It was quickly deleted by the magazine. That photo is seen below.
