A small boy is among several injured from an accident late last night West of Meacham, OR.

Oregon State Patrol officials said a 2003 Chevy Suburban was eastbound on I-84 around 11:37 p.m. when the driver lost control on black ice.  38-year-old Beatriz Murillo of Salem, OR, four family members and passenger 44-year-old Lucio Mendoza were hurt but transported to St. Anthony Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, the 5-year old family member was ejected from the vehicle, and was flown to Oregon Health & Science Hospital in Portland for treatment of what OSP Troopers say are "serious" injuries.   What exact injuries the child suffered are not yet known.

This incident, said the Oregon State Patrol, reinforces the critical need to make sure that ALL occupants of all vehicles, especially children, are properly restrained at all times; and that children are using the correct car or booster seat for their age and size.

No other details were released, the investigation continues.  No photographs were available from the scene.
