Fire takes out power to some homes

No buildings were damaged in the fire, which WRPD says began in the 6900 block of East Ridge Road, about half a mile north of Van Giesen.

No word as to what triggered the fire, but crews were able to quickly get it under control and are now just mopping up hot spots.

No homes damaged, but WRPD says several homes in the area are without power as some powerlines and poles were consumed by the blaze.

Temperatures will remain at or above 100 through the weekend, coupled with breezes will create a very high fire danger.
