Burned-Out Vehicle Leads Police to Probable Crime Scene

Yakima police are investigating the discovery of a body after first getting a report of a burned out car.

Around 7am Sunday morning, police were alerted to the car, which was just outside of Wapato. Police checked on the welfare of the registered owner, says KNDU-TV, but that person told police they had sold the vehicle to a neighbor.

Police then went to that neighbor's property, didn't find them, and began searching. They came across the body of a 59-year-old man. KNDU-TV reports police don't believe this was a random act, evidence is still being collected, and the location on 72nd. Ave is now being treated as a crime scene.
