Carport, Vehicles Destoyed in Benton County Fire
Investigators are still seeking the cause of the fire.
RAPIDLY MOVING BRUSH FIRE DESTROYS VEHICLES NEAR WEST RICHLAND
Monday morning Benton County Fire District #4 crews responded to a report of a brush fire in the 82000 block of Weidle Road, west of the Horn Rapid Golf Course, and about a mile north of the center of West Richland.
Upon arrival, they found the blaze had spread to a residential property area. The home didn't appear to sustain much damage, but a lot of scrub area was torched as was a carport that contained a number of inoperable (non-running) vehicles.
Unfortunately, the cars in the carport were destroyed.
Fire crews are still investigating to find out what triggered the blaze, some light winds appeared to make it spread rapidly, The property owner was there, said fire crews, and no one was hurt.
