Perhaps taking a cue from Seattle and Portland, where Occupy Movement protestors were swiftly but peacefully removed, tents taken down, and no riots occurred,  Baltimore and NYC are now taking steps to discourage the Occupy Movement.

Especially with Mother Nature hitting the Eastern Seaboard with colder than normal weather, and record early snowfalls, Baltimore has cut the power to outdoor outlets and sources near the site of the Occupy Movement.  City officials point to inspectors who visited several sites where the Occupy protestors are camped out, and found electrocution and public safety hazards.  The outlets were put in place to allow legally certified groups to meet and for events, but because the Occupy Protestors DON'T have permits, the city can legally pull any and all resources (power, water, etc) from their camps.

In New York, Mayor Bloomberg is at last responding to a growing tide of criticism of the movement, saying it's no longer an occupation, it's a disruption of a vibrant, important part of the city.  Fire officials confiscated generators last Friday, citing flammability and safety hazards.    Stories and complains coming from area businesses--even job layoffs due to slowdowns in business-have prompted Bloomberg to consider seriously taking action against the birthplace of the movement. What began as a protest has turned into a freeloading, lawbreaking unruly group of freeloaders, in the words of one New York City official.
