The Westboro Baptist Church tried to protest at a recent Portland Trailblazers NBA game, and got a rude reception.

The Kansas based controversial religious group has made headlines over the last decade by blaming wars, natural disasters and other events on what they call the 'sins' of America.  They claim the U.S. is being punished for it's religious transgressions.

They first gained attention years ago by picketing funerals of soldiers killed in the Middle East; and they even tried to show up in Pasco at TRAC to protest at the public memorial service for Sgt. Pfister, who died when his helicopter crashed during a mission. For the most part, their views and actions have been condemned by various theological groups across the country, regardless of denomination.  Even conservative religious groups accuse of them of twisting, warping and destroying the true message of God when it comes to sin and it's consequences.

Recently, they engaged in yet another protest at a Blazers game, but were met with such a forceful and vocal reception they ended up being literally chased off the premesis even before police arrived to keep order.
