Authorities think a medical issue may have led to crash Friday.

Early Friday morning, a 2004 Freightliner truck was hauling an empty trailer on Interstate 84 Westbound at Hood River, OR.

Just after 5am, the truck drifted to the left, and struck the guardrail on the side of the road. It then continued through the median until it struck a tree, sending the truck and trailer tumbling out of control.

The impact tore a section of the tree out of the ground, coming to a stop blocking part of the Eastbound lanes.  First-responders found the 64-year-old driver deceased at the scene.  His name has not yet been released.  He was wearing a seatbelt.  Authorities suspect a medical emergency may have led to the accident.

The investigation continues.
