Cyclist Survives Being ‘Blasted’ by Errant Driver in Hit-And-Run
Police don't have a lot to go off of, except it was a blue vehicle, believed to be a sedan.
Around 11AM Sunday, West Richland officers responded to Grosscup Rd. and Van Giesen, and found a bike rider lying in the road. He had been riding on Van Giesen approaching the intersection when he was blindside struck by a vehicle. The impact knocked the rider far from their bike into the road. The vehicle then sped away. It was last seen headed north on Grosscup.
Although he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, he was able to be treated and released without any serious injuries, although he will be badly scraped and bruised. He could only tell officers the vehicle was blue, he saw it as it sped away from the scene, while he was lying on the ground.
Officers are looking to see if any area surveillance cameras might have captured a blue vehicle in the area at the time of the wreck. Judging from the impact, police do believe it will have noticeable paint damage to the passenger's door. Anyone with any information is asked to call (509-628-0333. All leads can be confidential.
