Deputies Chase Stolen Car, Gets Away But Sidekick Busted

The search continues for a stolen Honda, which was chased near Benton City Monday.

Deputies spotted the silver 1997 Honda Civic, WA Plates APX8896, near Highland and the Old Inland Empire Highway, around 9AM. The car had been reported stolen earlier in the day out of Kennewick.

After a brief pursuit Deputies broke it off due to public safety concerns. However, they did corral a second vehicle which was following the Honda, and appeared to be involved.

That second vehicle was located at a home on 9th Street. After a preliminary investigation, that driver, 25-year-old Jason Vargas, is facing charges of rendering criminal assistance and making false statements.
