Dog Tries to Drive Car, Triggers Crash
A Kennewick man is hurt, but will recover fully, after a bizarre crash Tuesday afternoon.
Kennewick police responded to North McKinley and West Albany streets and found the blue car in the photo had slammed into another vehicle after hitting a bystander.
It seems David Dana was driving south on McKinley when his dog jumped from the back seat into the front. The animal struck and distracted Dana, causing him to swerve into the oncoming lane. He then struck Gabriel Ibarra, who was washing the black car seen in photo. Police say the car was legally parked by the side of the road.
After hitting Ibarra, Dana's car slammed into his car. Fortunately, Ibarra will be OK although he was injured and required ambulance transport to Trios Southridge ER.
Dana was cited for failure to travel on the right side of the road. Neither he nor his pooch were injured.
