So often in law enforcement authorities learn about criminal activity because they were looking at something else.

Case in point here too in Benton City.  Benton County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at 46712 North 9th street Monday evening. But what they found made the original call pale in comparison.

Officials say they found two illegal pot growing operations on the property, with a total of at least 1,600 plants. Their street worth was estimated at $1.6 million dollars. The grow appeared to be well planned. It was supplied with a watering system that stole unmetered water from the Benton Irrigation District's irrigation line.

Deputies say all suspects involved in the grow have been identified, according to yaktrinews.com but no arrests have yet been made. The plants were confiscated Tuesday morning, and the investigation continues.
