Following the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision (which did NOT BAN abortion, it turned it back over to the states as far as deciding yes or no) Gov. Inslee wasted no time in acting to 'protect women's reproductive rights,' However Jason Rantz of AM 770 KTTH has noted, Inslee and his WA Democrats are not pro-choice, they're pro-abortion.

He formed another of his infamous (and illegal?) pacts with the Governors of OR and CA, as he did years ago with climate change and the COVID vax rollout. We looked up the Constitution, specifically Article 1, Section 10 Clause 3, which specifically forbids states from entering into any kind of pact: (from the US Constitution)

"No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

We ran this by Mike Faulk, his Deputy Press Secretary, and Communications Director, and asked for his comment.  This is the email we sent:

" It appears this is a type of "compact" or "pact," much like the 2013 Western States Environmental Pact signed with OR, CA, and BC as well as the Western States Vaccine Review from 2020.
Article 1, Section 10 Clause 3 of the United States Constitution forbids states from entering into certain agreements. The clause reads as follows:
"No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

What is the comment on this from you and/or the Governor's office?
thank you. "
This is the reply we received:
"We’re talking about commitments to policy principles. It doesn’t change the fact that each state government -- including legislatures -- still has to do the work on their own."
No mention of the Constitution, no direct addressing of the question we asked, no mention of any legal base upon which the Governor acted.  We read it 3 or 4 times trying to figure out what he said.  Maybe you can...
