Drive-In Movies and $1000 Little League Challenge This Weekend
You're killin' me smalls.
West Richland's Red Mountain Event Center declares, "Lights, Camera, Action!" this weekend as a double feature of films will be presented, and attached to Saturday's movie as an added bonus, is a contest for a $1000 prize to the team with the most Little League baseball players who show up.
The Movies @ the Mountain series showcases Ford v Ferrari on the Jumbo Screen Friday night, April 23rd. It seems oh-so-apropos that the fastest half-mile race track in the northwest will present, drive-in style, the film that tells the story of one of the most famous car races of all time. And every car stunt in the flick is real. There was no CGI used, period. Only stunt drivers with nerves of steel put the thrill of the race in your face. Impressive.
Ford Shelby and Ferrari owners are invited to attend for free and show off their vehicles. Sign-ups for cars can be found on the RMEC web site, here.
The next night, Saturday night April 24th, is Little League night. And for the movie "The Sandlot," the youth baseball program with the best turnout in their ball caps will receive a donation of $1000 sponsored by Yakima Federal Savings & Loan.
Attendees sporting team toques will be counted toward the total. Food and beverage items will be sold on-site. Premium and RV parking spaces are also available. If you plan on coming out, you might want to bring comfortable chairs and sit next to your vehicle or listen by tuning into a designated channel on your radio.
Each vehicle gets free popcorn and pricing is by the carload. Proceeds from the event will help fund future events at the track.
