Drunk Puts Car in River, Then Backs Over Embankment
Police now say a driver who 'accidentally' found his car nose into the Columbia River overcompensated trying to get out and backed his car over an embankment in East Kennewick was drunk.
Just before midnight Saturday evening, 22-year-old Jose Morales was driving in the 1000 block of East Columbia Drive, when he 'found' his car was in the water, after driving up the gravel road at a high rate of speed.
Trying to get out, he 'overcompensated,' gunning the car backwards over an embankment. Police who arrived on the scene after getting the call found him lying in the road, and his car over the slope.
He was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. Neither he nor his car will be on the road for at least a number of days. No injuries reported.
