Details are still coming in, but fire crews are battling a structure fire at the Old City Hall in Pendleton, OR.

Officials did not say conclusively, but there may have been an explosion as part of the blaze. The East Oregonian reported a blast occurred around 8am, evacuations are taking place. The paper also reports there have been some injuries, the Pendleton Fire Department has closed off some area streets as the effort to fight the fire continues.

The building is at the corner of Main St. and SW Dorian in Pendleton.

UPDATE-authorities have confirmed a man has died as a result of the explosion. He was reported earlier as seriously injured, but apparently did not survive his wounds. the 25-year old man's identity was not yet released, one other person listed as seriously injured. The building has been used as residential and business space since the mid 1990's after City Hall moved to a new building.

  What caused the explosion is not year clear.
