Get Ready (Maybe) For New ‘Special Image’ License Plates in WA
If a proposed Senate bill passes, there could be a whole new menu of license plates to choose from in Washington state. Apparently these new plates would really 'take off' with new colors, images and more.
Senator Maureen Walsh (R-Walla Walla) introduced SB (senate bill) 5345, which is making it's way through various committees, it creates a whole new set of special license plates that will salute numerous different causes and icons in Washington state. Some are already available, but this new series would offer expanded artwork, new designs and even sub-catagories within the group.
The "Imagine Special" plate series will include plates that salute, with special artwork and logos, the following subjects:
- 4-H
- Armed Forces Collection
- Breast Cancer Awareness
- Endangered Wildlife
- Gonzaga University Alumni Association
- Helping Kids Speak
- Keeping Kids Safe
- Law Enforcement Memorial
- Music Matters
- Professional Firefighters Paramedics
- Seattle Seahawks
- Seattle Sounders FC (soccer)
- Seattle University
- Share The Road (motorcycles)
- Volunteer Firefighters
- Washington Farmers and Ranchers
- Washington Lighthouses
- Washington State wrestling
- Washington State tennis
- We Love our pets
And even a few other categories. Prices for these new plates, above standard licensing and renewal fees, will range anywhere from $5 to $45. Some will have $30 renewal fee when you get your new tabs, others will not. Within these categories will be sub-groups, for example, in the Armed Forces Collection, you can get a Purple Heart plate.
So if it passes, drivers will have a whole new way to express themselves behind the wheel.
