
Fast-Moving Fire Forces Total Evacuations in Beverly, Schwana, in Grant County
At least 280 residents affected between Schwana and Beverly, two small towns along State Route 243, which is the highway used to get to Vantage, due to an overnight fire.
3 Homes Burned So Far, says Grant County Sheriff's Office
Level 3 evacuation orders were issued overnight for all of Beverly and Schwana, whose combined populations are about 485 people. The GCSO says emergency evac orders were issued, Wahluke HS was set up as an emergency shelter.

The blaze, now called the Railroad Fire, broke out late Wednesday night and grew rapidly into Thursday morning. Numerous fire units and aerial tankers are in the area, using the Columbia River to refill.
No Reports Of Any Injuries
Residents who live along Lower Crab Creek are also being told to leave. The GCSO says the fire worked its way up Saddle Mountain on the south side, and alerts have also been issued for Mattawa.
