Giving back to the community is an important way we support each other and make the Tri-Cities a great place to live. Volunteering can seem a bit hard to get in to: where do you volunteer, which organization, how much time will I have to commit? These are all great questions! I found one organization currently looking for volunteers to coach young girls, Girls on the Run (GOTR). Girls on the Run's mission is to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running." Girls on the Run is all about making our girls more healthy, confident, able to handle peer pressure, and understand that they can achieve their dreams no matter what they are.

GOTR is currently looking for coaches for the girls. Coaches will go through training on February and meet two times a week March-May preparing the girls for a 5k run on May 19th. You don't have to be a runner to coach, just deliver the Girls on the Run curriculum to the participants, while being a role model, cheerleader, and champion!
