A Heppner, OR garbage truck crash resulted in the first-ever callout for the new Hermiston  HazMat team Wednesday.

According to KEPR-TV, the team was called to an area of Heppner, near Upper Rhea Creek, after a garbage truck apparently trying to cross a wooden bridge tipped over into the water.

The driver did sustain injuries and was hospitalized, the HazMat team set booms in the water and other devices to capture the hydraulic fluid and oil that spilled from the truck.

Judging from this image, and several others taken at the scene, it appears the vehicle was trying to cross a structure that wasn't exactly that sturdy. No word was given if these vehicles had crossed this bridge before.

Crossing a wooden bridge with a multi-ton garbage truck...hmmm...
