According to Richland police, the incident reinforces the need to be on the lookout for pedestrians, even if they're not paying attention.

We're thinking this was intended to reinforce that idea, but we will run with it. RPD says on January 21st, about 4:20am (haha) a banana-or person dressed as one-ran out in front of a driver in the 1400 block of Judson.

The banana was not struck as the drive was able to brake in time. Richland police say allow enough time to stop, especially in residential neighborhoods or near schools. You can do this by not speeding, and keeping head on a swivel.

Banana pictured, say police, was not the actual culprit.
