Japanese “Ghost Ship” Sunk By Coast Guard Cannon Fire (Video)
The long, voyage of the Ryou-un-Maru has come to an end. Friday, a US Coast Guard Cutter armed with a cannon opened fire on the derelict vessel and sent her to the bottom of the Pacific. The ship, which turns out had been designated for scrap in Japan, was swept out to sea by last year's tsunami. In the video, a Canadian salvage ship attempted to hook up to the 200 foot shrimp boat, but found it to be in too delapidated condition to salvage. Then the Cutter moves in and fires. Water was poured on the ship to extinguish any fires.
