K-9 Ivan Bites Down on Multiple Suspects Early Sunday Morning
K-9 Ivan earned more stripes early Sunday morning.
Ivan sniffs out DV suspect, brings down
Just after midnight Sunday morning, K-9 Ivan of the Kennewick Police Department was brought to a residence in the 4300 block of South Date street.
A 33-year-old male suspect was being sought not only for an unrelated felony court order violation was also suspected of breaking into the residence.
According to KPD and Benton County Sheriff's Deputies:
"Through investigation it was determined the suspect made entry into the house with a bb-gun and assaulted the victim, and forcefully stole a wallet from someone within the residence. Officers developed probable cause for Burglary 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault 2nd Degree, and 2 counts of felony order violation."
The area near the home was searched and the suspect found by Ivan hiding in a field. he was apprehended without incident.
Ivan then roots out burglar
As he and his handler were heading home. another call came in and he again came through according to KPD:
"...officers arrived on a business alarm in the 6800-block of W Canal Drive. The arriving officer observed a suspect inside. Multiple announcements were made for the suspect to exit, but the suspect refused. K9 Ivan and his handler arrived on scene and assisted officers in safely taking the 27-year old Kennewick resident into custody. The suspect was booked into the Benton County Jail for Burglary 2nd Degree."
