Kennewick Chase Suspect Vehicle Recovered, But No Driver
A 44-year-old man is still being sought by Kennewick police after he led them on a wild, dangerous chase late Thursday night.
Just after midnight Friday morning, police located the vehicle that Richard James Rotter was driving earlier that night when he led officers on a dangerous chase southbound on Washington street, without using his headlights.
Rotter, who is wanted for several outstanding felony warrants, was seen sleeping inside the 1999 silver Chevy Tahoe near 3rd and Washington. The engine was running. When Rotter realized officers were approaching his vehicle, he sped off at a very high rate of speed without lights. The chase was terminated due to safety concerns and the rate of speed he was traveling.
Less than 30 minutes later, the abandoned vehicle was located in a parking lot at the Highlander Apartments at 3030 West 4th. The vehicle had damage to the front, and was seized as evidence.
Rotter is still at large, anyone with any information is asked to contact Tri-City Crime stoppers at (509)-586-TIPS.
