Kennewick School ‘Intruder’ Arrested Friday by Police
Thanks to the sharp eyes of some students, a burglary suspect is now in jail
TRESPASSER WHO CAUSED LOCKDOWN AT SOUTHRIDGE HIGH IS A BURGLARY SUSPECT
Thursday, around 11:18 AM, Police were alerted about a trespasser at Southridge High School in Kennewick.
Some students told the school resource officer about a 17-year-old youth who was seen walking onto the school grounds.
The students said he matched the description they had seen (pictures) of a suspect accused of a previous burglary at Ranch and Home from September 2021. The students also told the resource officer the person might have a firearm in their backpack. No additional information on that part was given.
Southridge was locked down for a total of about 45 minutes, nearby Chinook Middle School and Sage Crest Elementary went to a modified lockdown condition.
SUSPECT LOCATED AND ARRESTED FRIDAY 1-21
Kennewick Police reported Friday the suspect had been located, arrested, and is now being charged with 2nd Degree Burglary. He is identified as a 17-year-old male.
