As of Sunday, Kennewick Teachers and the Kennewick School District still haven't reached a deal which could delay the starting of school on Tuesday.

As of 12 PM on Sunday afternoon, The Kennewick School District released the status of their ongoing negotiations with the Kennewick Education Association. Here is where everything currently stands:

- Bargaining teams met all day on Saturday, Aug. 24 and are continuing to negotiate on Sunday, Aug. 25 with an independent mediator from the Public Employment Relations Committee (PERC).

-The KSD presented Salary Proposal 14 on Saturday morning that includes a 6.25% across the board salary increase.

Per the KEA’s request, this proposal withdraws the $390,000 salary pool dollars from the salary schedule and puts it into a VEBA health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) plan.

Salary Proposal 14 increases the average teacher salary to $78,994. The latest proposed salary schedule has more than 200 teachers making the top salary of $101,857 and more than 450 teachers making greater than $90,000.
