Spokane Man Arrested for Police Impersonation After “I-90 Traffic Stops” in Black Explorer

Over the years we've heard of people trying to impersonate Police, but this one takes it to a whole new level.

The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office is asking the public if they encountered this guy, on or around July 3rd. on Interstate 90 in Grant County toward Kittitas County.

Several 9-1-1 calls came in from motorists that a black Ford Explorer was pulling people over in the westbound lanes, and they indicated they were not Officers.

The KCSO did not elaborate how or where they located the Ford Explorer, but said it was outiftted with a police-style nose push guard, and other items that would make it look like an unmarked Law Enforcement unit:

"The vehicle may have displayed emergency lights in or near the headlights or grille. It may also have had an interior light bar attached near the rear window."

The KCSO says the 20-year-old Spokane man, whose name was not released, might have had a second participant in a similar vehicle.

Officials didn't say what the phony Officer said to drivers, or what else transpired during the stops, but he's now facing charges of Impersonation of An Officer, and possible other counts.  The investigation continues.
