Man Found Guilty in Fatal Christmas Eve Kennewick Shooting
In a case that shocked the region, a man was accused of shooting his on-again, off-again girlfriend in Kennewick, then dumping her body in a residential neighborhood. He's been found guilty.
21-year-old Luisa A. Garcia-Frias was found fatally shot around 11:20 pm Christmas Eve in the 609 block of North Tweedt in Kennewick.
Authorities later arrested Francisco Munoz Quintero, after he turned himself into police. During his trial, he reportedly had told a relative he shot Frias, then drove back home to Mabton.
His defense attorneys said he was reckless but not intentional. He claimed he was arguing with Frias, pointed a gun at her, but she grabbed at him and the gun went off.
Tuesday, a Benton County jury found him guilty of shooting Frias. More information expected to be released soon. His trial began six days ago.
