Thanks to dogged forensic work and effort Kennewick Police say they've arrested the driver of a motorcycle that crashed back on Sept. 22 near Carmichael Street, not far from Lampson Stadium. The rider in control of the bike was arrested over the weekend.

We reported the motorcycle was seen traveling at a very high rate of speed on Canal Drive near Fisher Street, and pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns. However a short time later, the east bound cycle failed to make the turn near Carmichael and crashed.

A woman riding on the bike was taken to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition as of the weekend. Police, at the time said they believed someone else was the driver, but that person had fled the accident scene, leaving the woman behind.

Police say 39-year-old Alexander Maciel of Kennewick was discovered to be the driver after the extensive investigation. He was located at a home in the 3100 block of West Hood Ave. and taken into custody. He's facing Vehicular Assault, Felony Hit and Run and Eluding Police charges.
