Omak man gets 60 months in prison
A Federal judge in Spokane sentenced 37-year-old Louis Lee Zacherle of Omak for his role in a violent assault on a woman whom the court referred to as his intimate partner.
December 7th of 2023, he and the woman began to argue at their home on the Colville Indian Reservation. Zacherle left the home, then came back with an axe. He began to smash cabinets in the kitchen, then hit the woman in the face.
After knocking her to the ground, he proceeded to kick her several times, while wearing heavy boots. She suffered facial and scalp injuries, two broken ribs and sustained a lung injury that allowed air to escape from one of her lungs into her chest cavity.

He had been convicted in August of 2024 in a jury trial, and sentenced this week.
