If you coach any sport, or your child or teen plays anything from football to soccer, gymnastics to baseball or basketball, you need to attend this event!

All you have to do is turn on the sports channels, or see on social media and the web, to hear the increasing number of athletes who are suffering from concussion-related issues.  Various types of head injuries, athletes retiring early and more.

It's not just collegiate or professional athletes, either.  Every year, hundreds of youth and teens suffer blows to the head in sports that at first glance might not seem significant.  But they often can be. If ignored or not properly dealt with, the repercussions can be serious.

May 20th Kadlec Neurological Resource Center is presenting a FREE event called "Heads Up on Concussions" at the Richland Red Lion, starting at 6:30 pm.  Featured speakers will include the Seattle Seahawks Team physician, Dr. Stan Herring.  Also, a special speech by the brave teenager after whom our state's Lystedt Concussion Law is named after. Zach Lystedt was a youth football player in the Seattle area who suffered a series of severe neurological issues after he sustained a blow to his head during a youth football game.  After years of determined work and rehab, he now helps provide insight and promotion for the need to take head injuries seriously.

The Lystedt Law requires athletes who've suffered a blow to the head, or concussions like symptoms, to be medically cleared by a doctor before they can return to competition.

This important seminar will discuss what concussions are,  how they occur, and the all-important signs of one - as well as ways to help minimize them from happening in sports.  the Heads Up program is already being instituted in youth football leagues across the country, and youth coaches in most leagues now have to pass a Heads-Up course of instruction before they can legally coach.

The seminar is FREE, but registration is required.  For details and to sign up, click on the button below.  It's a MUST for parents of athletes and coaches.
