Pasco police called out fire units after a short chase Wednesday night led to the suspect's vehicle being engulfed in flames.

Officer Peoples was attempting a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as 31-year-old Ford Dickerson, didn't want to participate.

After a short chase, he was cornered and apprehended after crashing-dumping his car in a field near Covington and Burns Road. Dickerson was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant, which explains why he fled.

Police did not specify was led to the spectacular fire, but it's likely the hot exhaust ignited the grass and weeds. The blaze was put out, but not before the car was totaled.
