Authorities say the 10-year-old boy struck by a car in Pasco Tuesday evening was not wearing a helmet.

Enuel Ramos Gomez was riding near 15th and West Lewis, and trying to cross the road when he was hit by a motorist who didn't see him.

The boy was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he is in critical condition. He was suffering from serious head injuries.

Pasco police say it's never too early to point out to children, and talk often with them, about the need for bike safety.  Stay away from busy streets, wear a helmet, and always keep watching for cars.

The accident continues to be investigated, but police say the driver has been completely cooperative, and has not been judged at fault.
