Prowlers Chased, One Busted in Shower in Senior Apartments
Thanks to a Ring doorbell camera, two men are in custody in the Benton County jail.
Around 5:30am Sunday, a citizen called to report a suspicious man lurking outside their door at their home near 47th and Ely Street in Kennewick. When officers arrived they found a green Plymouth van in the area with 37-year-old Nathan Hildebrant and 33-year-old Anthony Richman inside. When police when to speak with the two, Hildebrant sped off, with the doors to the van still open!
Officers had to dodge the doors to avoid being hit, and chased the van then found it abandoned near 36th and Canyon Lakes Drive. After neighbors saw the officers, one provided surveillance video showing the two dumping the vehicle. K-9 Axl was brought in and tracked one suspect, Richman, to the Brookdale Canyon Lakes assisted living center. Richman was found inside hiding in a shower area and was arrested.
Then around 9:30am Hildebrandt was tracked to his home near 44th Place and Kent Street. He told officers his van was stolen. He's in jail on a 3rd Degree Assault and an outstanding warrant, Richman on suspicion of burglary. Police are asking everyone in the area of 47th and Ely to carefully examine property and homes to see if anything stolen. Authorities are still determining exactly what the two were doing there that early in the morning.
