Richland Police have a man in custody after a bizarre assault

Incident began around 2 AM outside Lee's Tahitian Restaurant and Bar

Police were called to the Uptown area of Richland on GW Way after a suspect assaulted a woman.

Witnesses said the man, whose name was not released, was involved in a fight, then went and got a knife from his car. He then struck a woman, who fell and hurt her head on the pavement, causing injuries. The extent of them was not given by Police.

The man then went back to his car, started it, and tried to hit the other people with his vehicle. He then left the scene.

  The suspect located a Short time later

Police were able to locate him quickly, he was apprehended without incident and is now facing 2nd Degree Assault and Vehicular Assault charges.

The investigation continues, additional charges could be pending.
