Richland Man Arrested After Year-Old Child Drowns in Bathtub
Richland Police now say the drowning of a 1-year-old child at the Woodspring Inn and Suites has resulted in a man being charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter.
The child was found on October 28th
Richland Police and EMS responded to the Hotel, located at 1370 Tapteal Drive in Richland for a report of a possible drowning. They found a one-year-old, and Richland medics were able to restore the child's heartbeat.
However, after the child was airlifted to Seattle for more care, they died. Richland Detectives began to investigate further, and on November 3rd arrested 24-year-old Jonnathan Rodriguez, for negligently and recklessly causing the death of the child.
According to Richland Police:
"This neglect or recklessness was found not to be a single, isolated event, but rather a pattern of practice by the child’s father. Rodriguez was arrested on November 3, 2022, and he has subsequently been charged by the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office with Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree"
No other specifics have been released about the case.
