A female manger who helps oversee the Dairy Queen/Orange Julius at the Columbia Center Mall sustained minor injuries in an assault and robbery Monday morning (Dec. 23) that police say is an inside job.

Police responded to the Columbia Center Mall parking lot after getting the call about the woman being knocked down and robbed. Kennewick police say the assailant stole money from her purse, this according to witnesses who saw the attack.

Police say a Dairy Queen employee is in custody, suspected of perpetrating the assault. Details were not given by police, but it's believed the manager was taking what's called a 'night drop' to deposit at the bank. They say the assault is an "inside job."

Often times, store managers will take the previous day's proceeds to the bank the next business day, they're usually carried in a long zippered 'purse' that holds cash and checks.
