Push enough against people, and they push back.

Now that the USDA has implemented new lunch menus in many schools across the country that were pushed by and sometimes even initiated by First Lady Michelle Obama, students are pushing back and complaining of not getting enough to eat!

Wisconsin high school athletes, according to the Education Action Group, have boycotted lunch at Mukwanago High School saying the reduced calorie menus leave them feeling hungry and empty. Earlier this week, an estimated 70 students out of 830 boycotted and protested the menu. School officials say half of the middle school students did the same.

Townhall.com reports on some of the school 'activities' that have sprung up from the new menus:

Some are throwing away their vegetables while others are adapting to the rules by becoming industrious. In New Bedford, Massachusetts, students have created a black market -- for chocolate syrup. The kiddie capitalists are smuggling in bottles of it and selling it by the squeeze, according to SouthCoastToday.com. Nancy Carvalho, director of food services for New Bedford Public Schools, was quoted as saying that hummus and black bean salads have been tough sells in elementary cafeterias. That means even smaller children are going through the day fighting hunger pains, which can never be considered a good thing.

The new menus, which are popping up all over the country, were one of Michelle Obama's pet projects. She has browbeaten the USDA into implementing what she believes are healthy foods for children. It's been no secret, and has been reported here with Newstalk 870, that she believes our children are fat, out of shape, and it's her 'mission' to tell us how to feed them. She, and the USDA, believe reducing calories for children will make them healthier.

It's not the government's job, or their right, to tell us how to raise our children. Sadly, many parents do a poor job at home, or cannot afford to make better food choices. But it's our choice for good or bad.

Fortunately, this idiocy has not spread, at least, to the Kennewick School District. My son often utilizes hot lunch, and absolutely loves the varied items on the menu. His favorite is the chicken sandwiches, and he and his friends do eat some fruit and other good choices. So Michelle, I guess we're not complete idiots after all!

By the way, check out what was on the menu at the private school the Obama's kids go to. You might enjoy this parody video that has sprung up in protest over the new USDA mandates!
