Social Media Threat Brings Heavy Police Presence to Moses Lake HS
There's increased Police and Deputy presence at Moses Lake High School today, Tuesday Dec.7th following what Grant County Deputies say was a social media threat.
WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
The Grant County Sheriff's Office is working with other law enforcement agencies to investigate and trace the source of a threat that was received recently on Snapchat.
The threat claimed violence would be happening at Moses Lake HS today. However, while officials have not been able to substantiate it they continue to monitor. The specific act of violence was not specified by authorities.
THIS THREAT IS NOT NEW
Sheriff Tom Jones' Department said a very similar threat was made last week towards Monroe High School, a 4 A school southeast of Everett. GCSO believes the threat has "made its way" across the state. So far no evidence discovered, but officials continue to be watchful.
The Moses Lake Police Department issued this statement:
"The MLPD takes every threat of violence seriously, which is why we quickly began investigating the threat. We will also have a heavy presence at the High School throughout the day making sure that students, staff and parents are safe and protected."
Investigators are attempting to trace back the source of the threat so they can find the perpetrator.
