Sunday Stolen Van Joyriders Were ‘Kids,’ Says Sheriff
Gives a whole new meaning to "Sunday Driver.'
Adams County Deputies now say the suspects apprehended after a brief chase in a stolen van near Othello Sunday afternoon were juvenile teens.
Just before noon, a Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a red Dodge Caravan on Highway 26 west of Othello. But the driver had other ideas. Refusing to pull over they sped off and the chase was on.
It only lasted about 5 minutes, but exceeded speeds of 60-65 MPH before the van finally slowed down and stopped in the area of Sherman Lane, a few miles west of town. Inside Deputies found three juveniles, and learned the van was stolen.
It's been returned to it's owners, but the three are now in the Martin Juvenile Justice Hall in Ritzville on a plethora of charges, ranging from MIP (Pot), evidence tampering, eluding officers, and malicious mischief, to name a few.
