Sunnyside To Issue Tickets for Unattended Car Warm Ups
Sunnyside police are taking a bold step to help curb the growing problem of unattended auto theft--issuing tickets to the registered owners.
Due to a spike in stolen vehicles that were left unattended while they were warming up, Police now say they will immediately begin writing civil citations. They're not a moving violation, but a fine, nonetheless. It's also been a problem in other areas as well, but it's believed Sunnyside is the first jurisdiction in our region to actually issue citations.
No mention of how much the citations will be, but according to the Sunnyside Police information release:
"Our officers will be on the lookout for these cars and will be issuing tickets to their owners. A ticket is better than a stolen car."
Of course, if your vehicle has a remote starter which allows the doors to remain locked while running, you will be exempted.
