Am's forward taken in 5th round by Calgary
Friday, the Tri-City Americans announced the third-year forward was taken in the 5th round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames.
Bell, who began his career with the Am's in 2019, had 18 goals and a team-high 31 assists during the 2021-22 season after only scoring 7 points (1 goal and 6 assists) the previous two. He became an offensive leader for the very young Ams squad.
Bell, who is 6' 4" 200 lbs, has the size and speed many NHL teams are looking for offensively. He hails from Campbell River, British Columbia, and is what the league calls a late-born 2003 player.
Bell was drafted the first year he was eligible to be taken by an NHL team. He will join former American defenseman Juuso Valimaki, who was also drafted by the Flames in 2017.
Bell was the only American drafted in the 7 rounds of the NHL selection process for 2022.
