This threat appears to be part of a national 'trend,'  some other school Districts have experienced it recently.

KENNEWICK SCHOOLS SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT ALLEGED THREAT

Thursday, the Kennewick School District released information about this threat:

"The Kennewick School District has become aware of a troubling post that has been shared widely this week on the social media platform TikTok. The post refers to a threat to school safety “for every school in the USA, even elementary,” on Friday, Dec.17.

The post appears to be part of a national TikTok trend and did not originate in our school district. We have heard reports from other districts that the same post is circulating in their schools. While we do not believe the threat to be credible, we are closely monitoring the situation and taking it seriously."

MOSES LAKE, MONROE HIGH SCHOOLS SAW INCREASED POLICE PRESENCE

We recently reported similar threats that were made against the Moses Lake School District, which resulted in a precautionary increased Police presence at the school Tuesday, Dec. 7th. The Moses Lake threat specifically mentioned the high school.

Kennewick also said this about police presence on Friday:

"Additionally, the district has been in contact with the Kennewick Police Department regarding the post. We may have an increased police presence in our buildings on Friday as an added precaution."

Police and school officials urge students and parents to watch their social media accounts and be aware of any threats that are posted.  Not just locally, but in other areas, officials are attempting to trace back these threads to find the persons responsible for starting these threat rumors.

A look back at a time before people were glued to their phones.
