Toddler in Critical Care After Falling in Pool in Benton County
A one year old Benton County boy is in critical care in a Seattle area hospital after falling into a wading pool in a home in the 5100 block of South Bermuda Road Thursday afternoon.
Deputies and EMS were called to the area around 3:15PM, just west of Rancho Reata Canyon, by the boy's mother. It appears the one year old, who can walk, was able to crawl through an unsecured pet door into the backyard.
He then wandered over and fell into the kiddie pool that had between 12-18 inches of water. When Deputies and EMS arrived the child was breathing, as CPR was being administered by a Richland Police officer who was first on the 911 call, before emergency help arrived. The boy was said to have been missing for just a few minutes, officials hope he was not under water for a significant amount of time.
The child was airlifted to the hospital in Seattle, no further updates have been made available.
