Ah, the bright lights of Las Vegas! And one of the players who could be hitting the ice with the new NHL expansion Golden Knights is former Tri-City Americans Defenseman Dhylan Coghlan.

The Americans announced today Coghlan has signed a 3-year entry level deal. Coghlan, who played for the Americans, is a 19-year-old.

According to CBSSports.com, he was extended a training camp invite after he participated in the teams developmental camp in June. He impressed their officials, and coming off a 53 point season with the Americans last year, seemed to be ready to take the next step. He came to Tri-Cities after 3 seasons in Red Deer.

He was slated to be a big part of the Americans defense, if he were 'returned' to the WHL.  Many top line players participate in NHL training camps in the early fall, and are sent back to their WHL clubs towards the end of September, or October. But some never come back, either sticking with the NHL team or playing in a higher tier farm club for that organization.

Good luck in Vegas!  This is the Golden Knights new logo.
