Devon McAndrews is headed up North.

Monday,  Americans Governor-GM Bob Tory announced the 19-year-old will be traded to the Chiefs for a conditional pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Americans, said  Tory, have 16 forwards on the squad:

“This gives Devon an opportunity to continue playing in the WHL. He is a quality person and we wish him nothing but the best.”

It's not uncommon for WHL teams to find themselves overloaded at certain positions, or to have almost "too much" depth.   McAndrews will join the Chiefs immediately.  He was originally acquired from Medicine Hat during the 2012-13 season, and joined the Americans last year, playing in 52 games.    He scored 3 goals with 8 assists last year, and had played in just two games this season.

The Americans will resume play with a pair of home games this weekend, Friday vs. Everett and Saturday vs. Kelowna,  with the pregame shows at 6:50 on Newstalk 870.
